Ah the good ol’ chicken rice… a staple of our Malaysian diet, unhealthy as it may seem (oily but oh so fragrant rice and all).
I’m sure each of us would have our very own favourite chicken rice stall. And one of my favourites would definitely have to be… Goh Thew Chik Hainan Chicken Rice along Chulia Street. This place needs no introduction…
ItΒ is very popular especially with the lunch crowd. And I do understand why…
Delicious morsels of rice oh so fragrant, wonderfully paired with slices of glide-down-your-throat smooth, flavorful roast chicken… and topped with some of that zesty chilli sauce…
One drumstick is usually not enough for me and we always end up ordering an extra plate of chicken! Glutton that I am! π
Goh Thew Chik Hainan Chicken Rice is open 7 days a week from about 11am til late evening.
Where is your favourite chicken rice stall?
Never visited this place before but the plate of chicken sure looks delicious. Our family usually had ours at Hutton Lane which can be view at http://tmytmz.blogspot.com/2007/09/chicken-rice-kampung-chicken.html
My fav chicken rice stall is Goh Thew Chik as well! Their rice is fragrant, the chicken is smooth and the soup is flavourful. Complete meal – done!
I’m a Melaka Boy so my fav will have to be the chicken rice ball stall… the original one by the river bridge… π
I have not gotten my favourite chicken rice yet… still looking for one.
This stall is famous for its roasted chicken only. If you want the boiled chicken (white chicken), you should go for Kafe Kheng Pin at Penang road.
A few door on the right, there’s a restaurant called SKY HOTEL if not mistaken is famous for CHAR SIU RICE. That stall, you have to wait for 1 hour and it really taste good. Night time the same place, is selling a good fish head bee hoon.
CK Lam – I’ve not tried the hutton lane chicken rice. will go try it soon! π
durianberry – looks like we have the same tastes!
kenny – i’ve tried some chic rice balls in melaka..dont think its the one by the river bridge though..next time i go melaka i ask you for directions ok? π
nkotb – happy looking! and when you find it be sure to blog about it…
email2me – oh i usually take roast chicken one…dont really like ‘pek cham kei’ but i will go visit the kheng pin kafe to have a look. and yes the sky hotel char siu rice is the best!! i love that place!!
hey… when did u go there.. we just have our visit not long ago there…
Huat Koay prefered the roasted chicken so much….
definitely one of the best nasi ayam in penang but be careful when walking in the kopitiam…it’s extremely oily…
penangtuapui – these photos were from quite a while back. i usually ‘ta pau’ from the stall. π
rocco – yes! you’re right! the floor IS very oily! thanks for the warning.. π
oh, got to try this…..usually buy from the shop in Penang road….but the rice is a bit dry…
