Kocha Taiwanese Delight @ Burmah Road, Penang

kocha8Next up was the Salmon Roll (RM9.50) which was prepared similar to rolled sushi. Loved the presentation and taste wise, I preferred this to the Cod Fish Roll. The Salmon Roll had a lighter taste, and of course, healthier too 🙂

The dumplings here come in two versions – pan fried or boiled (both RM6.50). We chose the pan fried ones. I’ve always wondered about the origins of these dumplings. On the one hand we have the Japanese dumplings or gyozas, and in Taiwanese fare, they also have something similar. So did the Japanese come up with gyozas and the Taiwanese followed suit? Or was it the other way round?

Ah no matter! For this means, I would get to savour these delicious dumplings, be it in Japanese or Taiwanese restaurants! 😛 And the dumplings here at Kocha Taiwanese Delights are top notch delicious!

kocha10For the mains, we chose to have the Mini Pork Steamboat (RM17). Don’t be fooled by the name ‘mini’ though. For the portion is enough for two small eaters! The steamboat stock is sweet and tasty, with generous ingredients.

kocha11The Mini Steamboat is especially good on a cold rainy day!

kocha12Then comes what is perhaps my favourite dish at Kocha – the BBQ Pork Slice! It comes as a set meal (RM15.80) with a drink (choice of Green tea, red tea, milk tea or coffee), two side dishes, rice and fruits.

The BBQ Pork Slices are very well marinated, fragrant and flavourful! In fact, I almost always order this set meal whenever I dine at Kocha. I hardly give the other dishes in the menu a second glance, which is really a shame since they do have a lot of other mouthwatering dishes….  So, I have told myself that for the next four visits to Kocha, no more BBQ Pork Slice! lol

I would highly recommend this set meal if its the first time you’re dining at Kocha. 🙂

kocha13Fruits for the three of us to end the lovely meal.

Other best selling dishes Kocha Taiwanese Delight include their Salty Chicken set meal, Taiwanese sausage and beef noodles. They have over 30 different set meals to choose from, ranging from RM11.80-RM19.80 (available for both lunch and dinner)
