Artsy.Sip @ Nagore Square, Penang – Painting & Wine in the Heart of Georgetown

Penang is most definitely a well known food haven. In recent years, the art scene in Penang has also grown, largely thanks to the popular wall murals around the heritage area of Georgetown.  If you happen to find yourself with free time on a Saturday afternoon, you may perhaps want to explore your artsy side at Artsy.Sip located in Nagore Square.

The concept behind Artsy.Sip is simple – they provide a platform for anyone to paint their very own creation on canvas over a glass of wine. Now, many people would quickly dismiss this fun activity for they proclaim their ability to paint or draw lacking. However, fear not for Artsy.Sip makes it easy for anyone to complete their own painting with a few simple tips. The rest would be up to your own creativity. 🙂 Besides, this activity is not meant to be an ‘art class’ per say, but rather ‘art entertainment’ where one is free to explore and unleash their artistic prowess.

Each session at Artsy.Sip is priced at RM88 nett (3 hour session) which includes a white canvas, all painting materials and a glass of wine.

Artsy.Sip selects a painting theme for each session (but participants are free to paint whatever they want with plenty of other paintings hung around the space for inspiration) I was ecstatic when I saw that our theme for the day was Unicorn!! <3 <3 <3

Each participant is given a small drawing of the unicorn as a guide and we were told that they made the drawing in black and white on purpose. This was so that participants can stretch their imagination and use whatever colour they wish to paint this magical mystical creature.

First step is to divide the canvas into a grid and ‘sketch’ the outline of the unicorn

I had so much fun during the session! It was extremely therapeutic and relaxing. And I must add that the really good music selection certainly helped get us into our grooves.

All in all, a lovely afternoon well spent – painting, drinking and laughing all my worries away!

I definitely look forward to returning again with another group of girlfriends for a fun girlie afternoon 🙂

The space at Artsy.Sip can accommodate up to 24 participants which makes it ideal for team building events or even a birthday party! Reservations are required as the session is only on Saturdays from 2.30pm-5.30pm. If there are more reservations, Artsy.Sip may open up an additional session from 8pm-11pm (Saturday)
