Naughty Nuri’s Warung @ Jalan Burmah, Penang

One of the newest eataries creating a buzz in the Penang dining scene is Naughty Nuri’s Warung (licensed from the very famous chain in Bali) located along Jalan Burmah (opposite APT Hair Salon and just a stone’s throw away from the happening Nagore Square)

Although I’ve visited Bali, I never had the chance to try the Naughty Nuri’s in Bali. Hence, I really looked forward to trying out the food served in this licensed outlet. We were told that the owners had painstakingly carried back volcanic rocks from Bali to be used to grill the various meats.

A quick look at their menu showed a variety of grilled meats, as well as burgers and some mexican themed dishes. But of course we had to try their signature pork ribs…

Signature Pork Ribs (RM38.90)

What makes Naughty Nuri’s pork ribs even better is this fiery chilli paste, made in house with a fiercely kept secret recipe. The fragrant and spicy chilli gives the smoky sweet pork ribs an excellent kick. Explosion of flavours in your mouth!

Next up, we were recommended the Grilled Pork Chop (RM28.90). Normally I’m not a fan of pork chops as the ones I’ve had previously have all turned out too dry for my liking. Surprisingly, Naughty Nuri’s Grilled Pork Chops begged to differ.

The juicy cut of meat (sourced very carefully with just the right amount of fat vs lean meat) was lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled to perfection. The meat was succulent and even better when eaten together with that layer of melt-in-your mouth fat. #fatdieme

Not something that I would eat every day but definitely a dish worth indulging in occasionally! hehe~

To make our meal a lil’ less sinful, we also tried the Garden Salad (RM9.90) While the salad greens look rather ordinary, what makes this dish is their special home made dressing. The dressing had a sweet and tangy flavour with a hint of mustard taste. Pretty interesting overall.

For those who do not fancy pork, Naughty Nuri’s also serves up a mean Grilled Sirloin Steak (RM32.90) Again the steak was grilled to perfection, with minimal seasoning to let the natural flavour of the beef shine through. The meat was tender and overall very satisfactory.

Meanwhile, their BBQ Grilled Chicken (RM23.90) was rather lacklustre. Perhaps being overshadowed by the pork and beef choices, we found this dish rather ordinary despite sharing the same marinade as the pork. Personally I would skip this and go for the pork ribs 🙂

Thankfully, the Grilled Lamb Chops (RM35.90) fared much better than the chicken. The crispy chargrilled bits lent much flavour to the juicy lamb. In fact I dare say that I would pick the Lamb Chops over the steak!

For diners who aren’t too keen on grilled meats, Naughty Nuri’s also offers a selection of burgers. We tried the Naughty Boy Burger (RM19.90). Made up of a thick meat patty, topped with cheese, sunny side up egg, bacon and home made salsa sandwiched between two lightly toasted buns, the burger was rather enjoyable. I appreciated the tangy kick that the salsa lent to the burger, cutting through some of the richness.

Naughty Nuri’s also has a good repertoire of alcoholic drinks. The most impressive one being their Rainbow (RM50).  Here’s a lil video on the making of this really cool fun drink!
